Explosions in Riyadh, including a blast at the city's airport, sent crude sharply higher early Thursday and pushed U.S. stock futures lower. That follows a rough Wednesday for Toronto, where banks and miners dragged the TSX down. Here is where every major market stands before the open. Key takeaways Brent crude jumped about 5% to above US$105 a barrel; WTI rose about 5% to roughly US$92.75. S&P 500 futures are down about 0.6% and Dow futures about 1% after Wall Street's four-day winning streak ended Wednesday. The TSX fell about 1.7% Wednesday to near 35,040, led lower by the big banks and gold miners. Historic Super Bowl LIX: President Trump and Taylor Swift Attend

 

Super Bowl LIX, held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, was a star-studded event featuring notable attendees such as President Donald Trump and pop icon Taylor Swift. This marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has attended the Super Bowl. 

President Trump, accompanied by his family and several Republican senators, attended the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. In a pre-game interview, he predicted a victory for the Chiefs, praising quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, who has shown support for Trump on social media. 

Taylor Swift attended the game to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. She was seen wearing an oversized white blazer, denim shorts, and white over-the-knee boots, accessorized with a ruby-encrusted "T" pendant necklace co-designed with Lorraine Schwartz. Swift was accompanied by friends Ashley Avignone and rapper Ice Spice.
