Greece’s Asylum Freeze Sparks Global Outcry Amid Crete Migrant Surge

In a move that has ignited fierce backlash from human rights organizations and the United Nations, Greece has passed legislation temporarily halting asylum applications from migrants arriving by sea from North Africa. The three-month suspension, approved by parliament with 177 votes in favor and 74 against, allows for expedited repatriation without prior identification. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis defended the measure as a “difficult but necessary decision” in response to a sharp rise in irregular arrivals, particularly from Libya to the island of Crete. Iran Warns Trump Amid Escalating Conflict: “We Will End This War

In a dramatic escalation of tensions, Iran has issued a stern warning to U.S. President Donald Trump following American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters, labeled Trump a “gambler” and declared, “You may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it”.

The warning comes after the U.S. launched a barrage of precision-guided munitions, including bunker-buster bombs, targeting Iran’s underground Fordow nuclear site. Satellite imagery suggests the facility sustained severe damage, though the full extent remains unconfirmed.

Trump, in a series of social media posts, celebrated the strikes as a “Bullseye” and hinted at the possibility of regime change in Iran, further inflaming tensions. Meanwhile, Iran has retaliated with missile strikes on Israel but has so far refrained from directly targeting U.S. assets.

As the world watches anxiously, the threat of a broader regional conflict looms. Iran’s rhetoric signals a readiness to escalate if provoked further, while the U.S. maintains that its objective is to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities—not to wage a full-scale war.
