Russia Deploys Kalibr-Armed Warship to Mediterranean Amid Rising Tensions

On July 13, 2025, Russia deployed three warships to the Mediterranean Sea, one of which is armed with Kalibr cruise missiles , according to a report from the Ukrainian Navy. The missile carrier is capable of launching up to four Kalibr missiles , adding a new layer of strategic presence in the region. At the same time, Ukrainian officials confirmed that no Russian naval vessels  were detected in the Black Sea or the Sea of Azov  ,marking a shift in maritime focus. Israel Deports Six More Activists from Gaza Aid Boat Amid Controversy

Israel has deported six additional activists who were detained after attempting to breach its blockade of Gaza aboard the aid boat Madleen. The activists, including French Member of the European Parliament Rima Hassan, were among 12 passengers on the vessel, which sought to deliver humanitarian aid to the war-torn region.

The Israeli authorities intercepted the boat early Monday, deporting climate activist Greta Thunberg and three others the following day. The remaining activists have protested their forced removal, arguing they had no intention of entering Israel and were brought there against their will.

The human rights group Adalah, which represents the detained individuals, has condemned their treatment, alleging mistreatment and solitary confinement for some detainees. Israeli officials have denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that all detainees are treated lawfully.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which organized the voyage, has framed the mission as a protest against Israel’s blockade and military campaign in Gaza, which experts warn has pushed the territory to the brink of famine. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities have dismissed the effort as a media stunt, referring to the vessel as the “selfie yacht”.

The last two activists are expected to be deported on Friday, concluding the latest chapter in the ongoing dispute over humanitarian access to Gaza.
