Trump’s Military Parade Sparks Nationwide Protests
On June 14, 2025, President Donald Trump attended a grand military parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. The event, featuring over 6,000 soldiers and 128 tanks, coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday and was marked by a display of military strength. Trump, seated at a special viewing stand, saluted troops as they marched past, declaring, “Every other country celebrates their victories. It’s about time America did too”.
However, the parade was met with fierce opposition across the country. Protesters, rallying under the banner of “No Kings”, gathered in hundreds of cities, condemning what they saw as Trump’s politicization of the military and authoritarian tendencies. Demonstrations in Los Angeles turned tense as police deployed tear gas to disperse crowds protesting immigration raids. In Washington, protesters carried signs reading “No to Trump’s fascist military parade”, while others waved Pride flags and wheeled a larger-than-life puppet of Trump wearing a crown.
Despite the controversy, Trump dismissed concerns about the parade’s cost and the protests, stating that the military display was a testament to American strength. While attendance at the parade fell short of expectations, the event underscored the deep divisions in the country as Trump continues to face criticism for his administration’s policies and actions.
