Canadians Gain More Room to Save with 2025 TFSA Limit

The Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) contribution limit for 2025 has been set at $7,000 , giving Canadians another opportunity to grow their investments tax-free. Since its launch in 2009, the TFSA has become one of the most popular savings tools in the country, offering flexibility and tax advantages that appeal to both short-term savers and long-term investors. For those who have never contributed to a TFSA and were eligible since the beginning, the total cumulative contribution room now stands at $102,000 . This allows Canadians to deposit a significant amount into their accounts without worrying about taxes on investment gains, dividends, or withdrawals. One of the TFSA’s biggest advantages is that withdrawals are tax-free and the amount withdrawn is added back to your contribution room the following year . Storm Floris Unleashes Chaos Across UK and Ireland

Storm Floris Grounds Flights and Cuts Power to Thousands

Storm Floris has battered parts of the UK and Ireland with winds reaching up to 90mph, causing widespread disruption to transport and power infrastructure. The storm, one of the most severe of the 2024–25 season, has led to hundreds of flight cancellations, blocked roads, and left tens of thousands without electricity.

Air Travel Disrupted More than 150 flights were cancelled across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland, with Aberdeen and Belfast City airports among the worst affected. Some flights, including easyJet and KLM services, were forced to turn back mid-air due to dangerous landing conditions.

Rail and Road Chaos Scotland’s rail network was severely impacted, with all lines north of the Central Belt shut down. Fallen trees blocked major roads, including the A96 in Aberdeenshire and routes in Moray, where gusts reached 90mph.

Power Outages Over 22,500 homes in Scotland and 10,000 more in Ireland lost power as high winds downed power lines. Counties such as Donegal, Roscommon, Galway, and Mayo were among the hardest hit. ESB Networks crews are working to restore electricity, warning the public to avoid fallen wires.

Events Cancelled The storm also disrupted cultural events, including the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and delayed exam result deliveries to island communities.

Authorities continue to advise against travel and urge residents to stay indoors until conditions improve. With cleanup efforts underway, the full impact of Storm Floris is still unfolding.
