  A Greek‑flagged tanker sailing near the Russian port of Novorossiysk was struck by a missile but remained operational, and all 24 crew members were confirmed safe.   A Greek‑owned and Greek‑flagged tanker sustained material damage after being hit by a missile while sailing approximately 14 nautical miles off the Russian port of Novorossiysk in the Black Sea. Deadly Crash in Russia’s Far East

A devastating plane crash in Russia’s remote Amur region has claimed the lives of all 49 people aboard an Antonov An-24 aircraft operated by Angara Airlines. The Soviet-era twin-engine plane was en route from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda when it vanished from radar during its final approach on Thursday, July 24.

Wreckage Found in Forested Terrain

Emergency services located the burning fuselage on a mountainside approximately 15 kilometers from Tynda. Due to the rugged and densely forested terrain, rescue teams had to approach the site on foot. A Mi-8 helicopter first spotted the wreckage, which was engulfed in flames.

Passengers and Crew

According to regional governor Vasily Orlov, the flight carried 43 passengers—including five children—and six crew members. No distress signal was reported before the aircraft disappeared, and initial aerial inspections confirmed no signs of survivors.

Aircraft Details and Investigation

The Antonov An-24, built in 1976, had recently passed a technical inspection but had a history of incidents. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation under Russia’s aviation safety laws. Preliminary theories suggest pilot error during landing in poor visibility or mechanical failure may have contributed to the crash.

The Amur Emergency Situations Ministry has set up a hotline for relatives of the victims. The Russian government has formed a commission to oversee the investigation and response efforts.
