FBI Investigates Assassination Attempt at Trump Rally

The FBI is actively investigating the shooting at a Saturday night rally for former President Donald Trump as an assassination attempt. The suspect involved has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

The attack occurred during the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, leaving one attendee dead and critically injuring two others. Trump himself reported being “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” and photos and videos showed Secret Service agents swiftly whisking him away, his face bloodied and fist raised. The suspected shooter, who was killed, used an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle for the attack.

After being evaluated at a medical facility in Pennsylvania, Trump flew to New Jersey, where he was seen exiting a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport around midnight.

President Biden condemned the violence, stating, "It cannot be like this. We cannot condone this". The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the attack.
