Daylight Saving Time 2024: When the Clocks Fall Back

As autumn settles in and the days grow shorter, it’s time to prepare for the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) in 2024. This year, DST will officially end at 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, November 3rd. This means that clocks will “fall back” one hour, giving us an extra hour of sleep and marking the return to standard time.

The practice of adjusting clocks during DST aims to make better use of daylight during the longer days of spring and summer. However, as we move into the colder months, the shift back to standard time provides more daylight in the morning, which can be beneficial for early risers.

While the extra hour of sleep is often welcomed, the transition can be a bit disorienting. Here are a few tips to help you adjust smoothly:

  • Gradual Adjustment: Start going to bed 15-30 minutes earlier a few days before the change.
  • Morning Light: Spend time outside in the morning light to help reset your internal clock.
  • Consistent Routine: Stick to a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends.

Remember to update any manual clocks before going to bed on November 2nd to avoid confusion the next morning. Enjoy the extra hour of rest and the cozy fall mornings!
