Gunfire Erupts at Swedish Adult Education Center: Five Shot in Attack

An act of violence shocked the community in Örebro, Sweden, on Tuesday when five individuals were shot at Risbergska School, an adult education center located about 200 kilometers west of Stockholm. Authorities reported that gunfire erupted at around 12:30 p.m. local time, prompting a swift emergency response and the evacuation of parts of the campus as students sought shelter in nearby buildings.

Eyewitnesses described hearing multiple gunshots and loud screams amid the chaos. While it remains unclear whether the shooter is included among the five injured, initial reports from the Swedish news agency TT indicated that the perpetrator may have died by suicide—although police have yet to confirm this detail. The incident is being treated as an attempted murder, arson, and aggravated weapons offense, with local officials stressing that the danger is not yet over.

Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that the government is in continuous dialogue with police as investigations proceed. As several of the injured individuals have been taken to hospital, the community awaits further updates on their conditions and the unfolding inquiry into this tragic event.
