Air India Flight Returns to Hong Kong Amid Mid-Air Technical Issue
An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for New Delhi was forced to return to Hong Kong shortly after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue on Monday. Flight AI315, which departed from Hong Kong International Airport at approximately 12:20 p.m. local time, reached an altitude of 22,000 feet before the crew decided to turn back as a precautionary measure.
The aircraft landed safely at around 1:15 p.m., and Air India confirmed that the plane was undergoing checks to ensure passenger safety. The airline stated that alternative arrangements were being made to transport affected passengers to their destination.
This incident comes just days after another Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed in Ahmedabad, India, killing 241 passengers and crew members. The recent technical issue has raised concerns about the reliability of the airline’s fleet, prompting further scrutiny from aviation authorities.
While the exact nature of the technical issue remains undisclosed, Air India and Boeing have yet to provide additional details regarding the incident. Authorities continue to investigate the safety of the aircraft model following the recent tragic crash.
