Relentless Push: Russia Claims Strategic Edge in Ukraine Offensive

Servicemen of the 115th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces use an RPG-7 grenade launcher during training between combat missions, in Kharkiv region, Ukraine. Russia’s top military commander, General Valery Gerasimov, has declared that Russian forces are conducting a non-stop offensive along nearly the entire front line in Ukraine, asserting that the “strategic initiative” now lies with Moscow. Stalemate in Gaza Truce Talks as Withdrawal Dispute Deepens

Efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza have hit a critical impasse, with both Palestinian and Israeli sources citing disagreements over troop withdrawal as the main obstacle. Negotiators in Doha are grappling with a U.S.-backed proposal for a 60-day truce, but Hamas has rejected Israel’s proposed withdrawal maps, which would leave approximately 40% of Gaza under Israeli control—including the entirety of Rafah and parts of northern and eastern Gaza.

Israeli officials insist on maintaining strategic positions, while Hamas demands a full retreat to lines held during a previous ceasefire before Israel resumed its offensive in March. The talks also face complications over humanitarian aid distribution and guarantees for ending the war, with both sides calling for increased U.S. intervention to break the deadlock.

Despite the setbacks, delegations remain in Qatar, and discussions are expected to continue. The war, which began on October 7, 2023, has resulted in over 57,000 Palestinian deaths and widespread devastation across Gaza. The humanitarian crisis and hostilities persist as negotiators search for common ground.
