Relentless Push: Russia Claims Strategic Edge in Ukraine Offensive

Servicemen of the 115th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces use an RPG-7 grenade launcher during training between combat missions, in Kharkiv region, Ukraine. Russia’s top military commander, General Valery Gerasimov, has declared that Russian forces are conducting a non-stop offensive along nearly the entire front line in Ukraine, asserting that the “strategic initiative” now lies with Moscow. According to Gerasimov, Russian troops have intensified airstrikes on Ukrainian cities far from the battlefield, including a recent attack on Kyiv that killed at least 23 people and wounded 38. Trump Greenlights Missile Delivery to Ukraine Amid Rising Tensions with Russia

President Donald Trump has announced a major shift in U.S. policy toward the war in Ukraine, pledging to deliver Patriot missile systems and other advanced weaponry to Kyiv. The announcement comes ahead of a high-level meeting between Trump’s special envoy, General Keith Kellogg, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

Trump cited growing frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s continued aggression, stating, “He talks nicely, and then bombs everyone at night. I don’t like it”. The weapons package, which may include long-range offensive systems, marks a dramatic reversal from Trump’s earlier stance of limiting U.S. involvement in the conflict.

The European Union is expected to reimburse the U.S. for the cost of the missile systems, with Trump emphasizing that “we’re not paying anything for it”. The delivery is part of a broader strategy to bolster Ukraine’s defenses against intensified Russian drone and missile attacks, which have caused record civilian casualties in recent months.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a close Trump ally, described the move as a “game-changer,” predicting a record flow of weapons to Ukraine in the coming days. General Kellogg’s visit signals deeper cooperation between Washington and Kyiv, with discussions expected to cover defense, sanctions, and joint production of military equipment.

This development underscores a growing rift between Trump and Putin, and could reshape the geopolitical landscape as NATO leaders prepare to meet in Washington this week.
