Drone Strike on Besieged Sudan Mosque Kills Dozens Amid Escalating Darfur Siege

At least 70 worshippers were killed and dozens more injured when a drone strike hit a mosque during Friday prayers in El Fasher, the capital of Sudan’s North Darfur region, according to medical and aid sources. The attack, blamed on the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), reduced the mosque to rubble, with rescuers still pulling bodies from the debris. El Fasher — home to more than 260,000 civilians — has been under siege for over a year as the RSF battles Sudan’s army for control of the city, the military’s last stronghold in Darfur. Satellite imagery shows RSF advances into key military and humanitarian sites, including the nearby Abu Shouk displacement camp, which shelters hundreds of thousands. Argentine Lawyers Seek Netanyahu’s Arrest Amid War Crimes Allegations

                                           Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

A coalition of Argentine human rights lawyers has filed a criminal complaint in the country’s federal courts seeking the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should he enter Argentina. The move comes amid unconfirmed reports of a possible visit in September, though local media suggest Netanyahu may instead meet President Javier Milei in New York during the UN General Assembly.

The complaint, lodged by attorney Rodolfo Yanzon and Raji Sourani of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, accuses Netanyahu of co-perpetrating war crimes and crimes against humanity — including the intentional starvation of civilians, homicide, and persecution. The allegations stem from a March 23 incident in which 15 people, including first responders, were reportedly executed following a bombing.

This is not the first such legal action in Argentina; earlier in August, the Association of State Workers (ATE) and human rights group HIJOS also sought an arrest warrant for Netanyahu. The Israeli leader faces mounting international scrutiny over the Gaza conflict, with the International Criminal Court having issued a separate arrest warrant over alleged war crimes. Netanyahu and Israel deny all charges.
