U.S. Officials Say Iran’s New Supreme Leader Gravely Wounded Amid Escalating Conflict

Protesters hold posters of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son, Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, during a protest marking al-Quds Day (Jerusalem Day), after Friday prayers at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei , was seriously wounded and likely disfigured during the opening phase of U.S. and Israeli military strikes. Terror Strikes Moscow Concert Hall: Multiple Casualties Reported

In a horrifying act of violence, gunmen clad in combat fatigues stormed the Crocus City Hall concert venue on the western edge of Moscow. Their rampage left many dead and wounded, marking one of the deadliest terror attacks in Russia in the past two decades.

As the crowd gathered for a concert by the renowned Russian rock band Picnic, the assailants opened fire with automatic weapons, causing chaos and panic. The venue, which can accommodate over 6,000 people, turned into a scene of horror as bullets flew and explosions rocked the hall.

The attackers didn’t stop at gunfire. They also deployed explosives, igniting a massive blaze that engulfed a third of the concert hall. Smoke billowed from the building, and the roof was nearly consumed by flames. Videos captured the desperate attempts of concertgoers to flee the inferno.

More than 50 ambulance crews rushed to the scene, tending to the injured and evacuating survivors. Special units of Russia’s National Guard and local police joined the effort. The regional governor, Andrei Vorobyov, set up a task force to assess the damage and coordinate rescue operations.

The attack has drawn international condemnation. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow had previously warned citizens to avoid large gatherings due to heightened fears of terrorism. Now, the world watches in shock as Moscow grapples with this monstrous crime.

Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the casualties, but the toll is devastating. As investigations unfold, questions remain about the motives and identities of the attackers. The tragedy at Crocus City Hall serves as a grim reminder of the fragility of safety and the urgent need for vigilance against terror.
