Canadian Troops May Be Sent to Ukraine as Part of Peace Deal, Says Trudeau

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that sending Canadian troops to Ukraine is a possibility under a potential peace deal. During a visit to Kyiv to mark the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Trudeau stated that "everything is on the table" when it comes to supporting Ukraine.

Trudeau emphasized Canada's commitment to aiding Ukraine, including a pledge of $5 billion in aid using funds from seized Russian assets. He also mentioned that Canada will provide additional military support, such as light armoured vehicles and F-16 flight simulators.

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly echoed Trudeau's sentiments, expressing Canada's interest in having more Canadians involved in protecting Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its continued support, particularly in training soldiers and supplying optical parts for drones.

As discussions continue, the possibility of Canadian troops being deployed to Ukraine remains a significant consideration in the efforts to establish a lasting peace.
