U.S. Officials Say Iran’s New Supreme Leader Gravely Wounded Amid Escalating Conflict

Protesters hold posters of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son, Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, during a protest marking al-Quds Day (Jerusalem Day), after Friday prayers at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei , was seriously wounded and likely disfigured during the opening phase of U.S. and Israeli military strikes. Speaking at a Pentagon briefing, Hegseth described Iran’s leadership as “desperate and hiding,” asserting that Khamenei has gone underground following injuries sustained in the attacks.  Reports from multiple outlets indicate that Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the conflict began, fueling speculation about the severity of his condition. Tragic Error: South Korean Air Force Jets Drop Bombs on Civilian Homes, Injuring 15

In a shocking incident on Thursday, South Korean fighter jets accidentally dropped eight bombs on a civilian district in Pocheon during military exercises, resulting in injuries to 15 people, including two who were seriously hurt. The mishap occurred when a pilot entered incorrect coordinates, causing the bombs to fall outside the designated shooting range.

The bombs, each weighing 225 kilograms, were released from two KF-16 jets during joint live-fire exercises near the demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas. The explosions caused significant damage to homes, a church, and other structures in the area. Residents have long protested the disturbance and potential danger posed by nearby training grounds.

Authorities have suspended live-fire exercises until a thorough investigation is conducted to determine the cause of the error. Despite the incident, major joint South Korean and U.S. military exercises scheduled to begin on Monday will proceed as planned.

Pocheon city mayor Baeck Young-hyeun urged the government and military to implement measures to prevent further civilian damage. The South Korean Air Force has apologized for the accident and expressed their wishes for the swift recovery of those injured.
