Royal Welcome: King Charles and Queen Camilla Captivate Ottawa Crowds

Thousands of enthusiastic royal watchers gathered in Ottawa to welcome King Charles III and Queen Camilla during their highly symbolic visit to Canada. The royal couple arrived on Monday afternoon, greeted by Prime Minister Mark Carney, Governor General Mary Simon, and Indigenous leaders.

Their first stop was Lansdowne Park, where they met with community members and took part in a ceremonial puck drop at a street hockey game. Later, they traveled to Rideau Hall, where King Charles planted a blue beech tree, a symbol of resilience and heritage.

The visit comes at a crucial time, as Canada seeks to reaffirm its sovereignty amid political tensions with the United States. The highlight of the trip will be King Charles delivering the Speech from the Throne, marking the first time a monarch has done so in Canada since 1977.

The royal visit has been met with excitement, with crowds spontaneously breaking into renditions of God Save the King and O Canada. As the King and Queen continue their engagements, their presence serves as a reminder of Canada's deep-rooted ties to the monarchy and its distinct national identity.
