Israel and Lebanon Agree to 10‑Day Ceasefire as Trump Announces Breakthrough

Israel and Lebanon Reach 10‑Day Ceasefire Following Trump Announcement Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10‑day ceasefire set to begin at 5 p.m. EST, according to U.S. President Donald Trump, who said the truce followed “excellent conversations” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.  The ceasefire comes after more than six weeks of intense fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iran‑backed armed group operating in southern Lebanon. The conflict has resulted in over 2,000 deaths in Lebanon and displaced more than a million residents, while Israel has maintained a 10‑kilometre security zone in southern Lebanon. Uncertainty Looms Over Ukraine Peace Talks in Turkey as Kremlin Stays Silent on Attendees

The Kremlin has confirmed that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey are still scheduled to take place, but it has yet to disclose who will represent Moscow at the negotiations. Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, set for Thursday, but did not specify whether he would attend in person.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he will only participate if Putin is present. Reports suggest that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and top foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov may be part of the Russian delegation, but the Kremlin has not officially confirmed this.

The uncertainty surrounding the talks has raised questions about Russia’s commitment to a diplomatic resolution. While the Kremlin insists that its offer for negotiations remains valid, the lack of clarity on its delegation has fueled speculation about Moscow’s true intentions.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed interest in attending the talks himself, though he has also announced that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and senior envoys will be present on behalf of the United States.

As the scheduled date approaches, the world watches closely to see whether these discussions will mark a turning point in the ongoing conflict or simply another round of stalled diplomacy.
