Deadly Incident Near Gaza Aid Distribution Sites Sparks Outrage

At least five Palestinians were killed and several others wounded by Israeli fire near aid distribution sites in the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian health officials and witnesses. The incident occurred as civilians were heading toward two aid points operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an organization backed by Israel and the United States.

The Israeli military stated that its forces fired warning shots at individuals approaching their positions, claiming they were deemed a threat. However, Palestinian witnesses reported that Israeli troops opened fire at a roundabout near Rafah, where people had gathered to receive food aid.

The bodies of four victims were transported to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, while another fatality was reported at Al-Awda Hospital in central Gaza. The military acknowledged reports of injuries but did not specify the number of casualties.

This latest shooting is part of a series of deadly incidents near aid hubs in Gaza, where more than 80 people have been killed in recent weeks, according to local hospital officials. The GHF, which temporarily closed its sites last week to discuss safety measures with the Israeli military, has urged civilians to stay on designated access routes.

The ongoing violence near aid distribution points has raised concerns about the safety of civilians seeking humanitarian assistance in Gaza. International organizations continue to call for independent investigations into the incidents and for measures to ensure the protection of those in need.
