Tragedy in Graz: Austrian School Shooting Claims Lives


A devastating school shooting in Graz, Austria, has left at least nine people dead, including the suspected gunman. The attack took place at BORG DreierschĂĽtzengasse High School, located near the city’s historic center. Authorities confirmed that the shooter acted alone and was later found deceased.  

Emergency responders rushed to the scene following reports of gunfire at 10 a.m. local time. Special forces were deployed, and the school was swiftly evacuated. Police later announced that the situation had been secured and that there was no further danger to the public.  

Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker called the incident a “national tragedy”, expressing deep sorrow for the victims and their families. President Alexander Van der Bellen echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the profound loss of young lives and the impact on the community.  

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the shooter’s motives and background. The incident has reignited discussions about Austria’s gun laws, which allow certain firearms to be purchased without a permit.
