Bomb Threats Disrupt Air Travel Across Canada, Prompting Evacuations and Delays

A wave of bomb threats targeting air traffic control facilities across Canada caused major disruptions to air travel on Thursday morning. According to NAV Canada, multiple control towers—including those in Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Winnipeg—were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that ground stops were implemented at Montreal and Ottawa international airports, temporarily halting all departing flights. Although the ground stops have since been lifted, travelers are still facing delays as operations gradually resume.

NAV Canada stated that all affected employees were safely evacuated and that authorities are actively investigating the threats. The Ottawa Police Service also confirmed a security incident at the Ottawa airport, urging passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

The full scope of the disruption remains unclear, but officials are working to restore normal operations while ensuring public safety.
