Gaza Crisis Deepens: 34 Killed in Israeli Strikes Amid Limited Aid Easing

At least 34 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza on Monday, according to local health officials, intensifying the humanitarian crisis despite recent efforts to ease aid restrictions. The strikes occurred outside a newly announced daily pause in military operations, which Israel said would allow for improved aid delivery between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and Muwasi.

Among the casualties were seven people near an aid distribution site and a pregnant woman whose fetus survived after emergency surgery. Another strike on a home in Khan Younis killed 11 people, most of them women and children.

Israel’s military has not commented on the timing or targets of the latest strikes. Aid agencies welcomed the pause and airdrops but warned the measures fall short of addressing the widespread hunger and malnutrition gripping Gaza. Images of emaciated children have sparked global outrage, including condemnation from U.S. President Donald Trump.

Since the war began in October 2023, over 59,800 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which reports that more than half of the victims are women and children. The ministry’s figures are widely regarded by international organizations as the most reliable source of casualty data.
