Israel and Lebanon Agree to 10‑Day Ceasefire as Trump Announces Breakthrough

Israel and Lebanon Reach 10‑Day Ceasefire Following Trump Announcement Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10‑day ceasefire set to begin at 5 p.m. EST, according to U.S. President Donald Trump, who said the truce followed “excellent conversations” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.  The ceasefire comes after more than six weeks of intense fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iran‑backed armed group operating in southern Lebanon. The conflict has resulted in over 2,000 deaths in Lebanon and displaced more than a million residents, while Israel has maintained a 10‑kilometre security zone in southern Lebanon. Trump Faces MAGA Backlash Over Epstein Files Reversal

In a surprising twist, President Donald Trump finds himself at odds with his own base as fallout intensifies over the administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. For years, Trump and his allies fueled speculation around Epstein’s alleged “client list,” a supposed trove of names tied to sex trafficking conspiracies. But a recent Justice Department memo concluded there was no incriminating list and reaffirmed that Epstein died by suicide in 2019.

The reversal has sparked outrage among MAGA loyalists, many of whom feel betrayed after months of promises to release explosive documents. Influencers like Charlie Kirk and Dan Bongino, once vocal proponents of the theory, have either backtracked or clashed with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the administration’s messaging. Trump has defended Bondi and urged supporters to “move on,” calling the Epstein saga “boring” and “a distraction”.

Despite efforts to contain the damage—including outreach to conservative media figures and talk of appointing a special prosecutor—the controversy has exposed fractures within Trump’s coalition. Some allies, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Steve Bannon, continue to demand transparency, while Democrats seize the moment to push for full disclosure.

As Trump attempts to shift focus back to his broader agenda, the Epstein fallout remains a thorny issue—one that could test the durability of his political grip heading into the next election cycle.
