UK Swelters Under Third Heatwave as Cooler Weather Approaches

The UK is enduring its third heatwave of the summer, with temperatures soaring past 33°C in several regions. Saturday marked the hottest day of the year for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, with Aviemore hitting 32.2°C and Cardiff’s Bute Park reaching 33.1°C. England matched the heat with Ross-on-Wye also recording 33.1°C.

Amber heat health alerts remain in effect across the Midlands, southern, and eastern England until Monday morning, warning of increased health risks for vulnerable populations. Hosepipe bans have been declared in Yorkshire, Kent, and Sussex, and wildfires have sparked in Surrey and Perth, prompting safety warnings from fire services.

Sporting events like Wimbledon have felt the heat, with fans braving scorching conditions during the women's finals. Relief is on the horizon, however, as the Met Office forecasts a cooler shift starting Monday, bringing heavy rain and a drop in temperatures across much of the country.

While the south-east may hold onto the heat a bit longer, most regions will see a return to seasonal norms, offering a welcome break from the intense summer blaze.
