International aid deliveries by air continued over Gaza City on Sunday, even as Israel readied a large-scale ground operation to seize control of the area. For more than two weeks, multiple countries have participated in parachuting food, medicine, and other essentials into the besieged enclave.

However, humanitarian agencies and the UN warn that these airdrops are far from sufficient to meet Gaza’s urgent needs. Many packages fail to reach the most vulnerable, with some landing in the sea, in restricted “red zones,” or in overcrowded tent areas — occasionally causing injuries or fatalities when they fall.

The aid effort comes against the backdrop of a worsening humanitarian crisis. Malnutrition-related deaths continue to rise, and international criticism of Israel’s blockade and planned invasion has intensified. Foreign ministers from Canada, Australia, France, Germany, and the UK have condemned the military plan, warning it could deepen civilian suffering and violate international law.

Despite the ongoing drops, relief groups stress that only unrestricted land access for hundreds of aid trucks daily can avert mass starvation. As diplomatic pressure mounts, the UN Security Council is set to convene an emergency session to address the escalating situation.
