U.S. Officials Say Iran’s New Supreme Leader Gravely Wounded Amid Escalating Conflict

Protesters hold posters of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son, Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, during a protest marking al-Quds Day (Jerusalem Day), after Friday prayers at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei , was seriously wounded and likely disfigured during the opening phase of U.S. and Israeli military strikes. Speaking at a Pentagon briefing, Hegseth described Iran’s leadership as “desperate and hiding,” asserting that Khamenei has gone underground following injuries sustained in the attacks.  Reports from multiple outlets indicate that Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the conflict began, fueling speculation about the severity of his condition. Some accounts suggest he may have suffered catastrophic injuries, including the loss of a limb and a possible coma, after an airstrike that also killed members of his family.  U.S....

Air Canada Begins Flight Cancellations Ahead of Potential Strike

Air Canada has announced it will begin cancelling flights starting Thursday in anticipation of a possible work stoppage by its flight attendants this Saturday. The move is part of an “orderly shutdown” of operations that could lead to a complete halt of flights by Air Canada and its subsidiary, Air Canada Rouge, by the weekend.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), representing approximately 10,000 flight attendants, issued a 72-hour strike notice on Wednesday. In response, Air Canada filed a lockout notice, citing an impasse in contract negotiations. The union has rejected the airline’s offer to enter binding arbitration, insisting on a negotiated agreement that members can vote on.

Key issues in the dispute include low wages and unpaid labor during non-flight hours. Air Canada’s latest proposal reportedly included a 38% compensation increase over four years, improved pensions, and better crew rest provisions.

Passengers affected by cancellations will be notified and offered full refunds or rebooking options. Flights operated by Air Canada Express (Jazz and PAL Airlines) will continue as scheduled.

With negotiations still ongoing, travelers are advised to monitor updates closely and adjust plans accordingly.
