Canadian Army Suspends Five Soldiers Over Nazi Salute Video

 

The Canadian Army has suspended five Quebec-based soldiers after a video surfaced showing individuals performing Nazi salutes during a 2023 party. The footage, brought to the attention of Lt.-Gen. Mike Wright on August 6, depicts one person conducting drill in front of the Royal 22e Régiment flag before consuming a substance, while others make the salute.

Military police have been notified, and an internal investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the incident. The Department of National Defence stated that the soldiers remain subject to administrative and disciplinary measures, which could include dismissal.

This case adds to growing concerns about extremist activity within the Canadian Forces, following recent terrorism-related charges against other military members in Quebec.
