Chaos at Times Square: Three Injured in Early Morning Shooting

A shooting in the heart of Times Square early Saturday morning left three people wounded and sent shockwaves through one of the world’s busiest tourist destinations.

According to the New York Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. following a verbal altercation between the alleged shooter and one of the victims. The victims include an 18-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man, and a 65-year-old man—all of whom are currently in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.

Authorities have detained a 17-year-old male suspect and recovered a firearm from the scene. Police are still investigating whether the shooter and victims were acquainted.

Videos circulating on social media captured the chaos, with pedestrians fleeing and emergency responders attending to the wounded near the intersection of West 44th Street and 7th Avenue.

Despite the alarming nature of the event, officials noted that gun violence in New York City has declined significantly this year, with shooting incidents down 23% compared to the same period last year.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet.
