Trump’s Self-Styled Nobel Quest: A Peace Prize Fantasy

Donald Trump’s latest fixation — securing the Nobel Peace Prize — has become a political sideshow that blends self-promotion with geopolitical controversy. While past leaders have quietly welcomed nominations, Trump’s approach has been anything but subtle. He has openly claimed credit for “settling” multiple global conflicts, from Armenia–Azerbaijan to Israel–Iran, despite little independent evidence of lasting peace in those regions. Diplomatic Tensions Rise Over Alleged U.S. Covert Efforts in Greenland

Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen.

Denmark has formally summoned the top U.S. diplomat in Copenhagen following reports that individuals linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly engaged in covert influence campaigns in Greenland.

According to Danish public broadcaster DR, at least three Americans sought to foster ties with Greenlandic political figures, business leaders, and community members in an effort to build support for the territory’s independence from Denmark — and closer alignment with the United States.

Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen condemned any such interference as “completely unacceptable,” stressing that decisions about Greenland’s future rest solely with its people. The U.S. embassy has yet to issue a comment.

Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory, holds strategic significance due to its mineral wealth and location in the rapidly changing Arctic region, where global powers are vying for influence. This latest incident underscores the geopolitical competition unfolding as climate change opens new maritime and resource opportunities.
