Fugitive Nabbed: Canada’s 10th Most Wanted Captured at Montreal Airport


A dramatic arrest unfolded at Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport as Quebec provincial police, in coordination with the Canada Border Services Agency, apprehended Jonathan Ouellet-Gendron — ranked 10th on Canada’s list of most wanted fugitives.

Ouellet-Gendron, 36, was wanted on multiple Canada-wide warrants stemming from a 2022 homicide and drug trafficking charges in Saskatoon. He was identified as a suspect in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Brandon Baxandall, whose body was discovered behind an apartment building on Melrose Avenue. Authorities had warned the public that Ouellet-Gendron was armed and dangerous.

After more than three years on the run, his return to Canada triggered swift action from the Sûreté du Québec Airport Unit and the Mascouche Major Crime Investigation Division. He is expected to appear in a Montreal courthouse on Sunday.

The arrest marks a major breakthrough in a case that has gripped Saskatoon since 2022 and highlights the effectiveness of the Bolo Program, which had placed Ouellet-Gendron in its top 10 most wanted list in May 2023.
