In a dramatic turn in the Ukraine conflict, U.S. President Donald Trump is urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to accept a rapid peace deal following Trump’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. According to reports, Trump has signaled that reclaiming Crimea and pursuing NATO membership are off the table for Kyiv, while hinting at potential U.S.-led security guarantees in lieu of alliance membership.

Sources suggest the proposals under discussion could see Russia relinquish small pockets of occupied territory in exchange for Ukraine ceding fortified areas in the east, particularly in the Donbas region. European leaders — including those from Germany, France, and the UK — are flying to Washington to stand alongside Zelenskiy, determined to prevent any settlement that undermines Ukraine’s sovereignty.

The talks come amid ongoing Russian strikes, with deadly attacks reported in Kharkiv even as diplomatic maneuvering intensifies.
