Israel and Lebanon Agree to 10‑Day Ceasefire as Trump Announces Breakthrough

Israel and Lebanon Reach 10‑Day Ceasefire Following Trump Announcement Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10‑day ceasefire set to begin at 5 p.m. EST, according to U.S. President Donald Trump, who said the truce followed “excellent conversations” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.  The ceasefire comes after more than six weeks of intense fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iran‑backed armed group operating in southern Lebanon. The conflict has resulted in over 2,000 deaths in Lebanon and displaced more than a million residents, while Israel has maintained a 10‑kilometre security zone in southern Lebanon. Massive Drone Strike Disrupts Russian Rail Hub in Volgograd

A Ukrainian drone attack overnight on August 4 sparked a fire at the Archeda railway station in Frolovo, located in Russia’s Volgograd region, causing significant disruptions to regional transport and energy infrastructure.

According to Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov, the strike targeted key facilities, including a power line and technical buildings at the station. Windows in nearby residential buildings were shattered, and an unexploded drone was discovered on the railway tracks. While the tracks themselves were reportedly undamaged, train services in the Frolovo district were suspended, and flights at Volgograd’s regional airport were temporarily halted.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses intercepted 61 Ukrainian drones across various regions, including six over Volgograd. The attack is part of a broader pattern of Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure deemed critical to Moscow’s war efforts, including fuel depots and supply routes.

Ukraine has not officially commented on the incident, maintaining its usual silence on cross-border drone operations. Independent verification of Russian claims remains limited.

This latest strike underscores Ukraine’s increasing capability to target strategic assets deep within Russian territory, raising concerns about the vulnerability of logistical networks supporting the Kremlin’s military campaign.
