The Canada Strong Fund — Invest Like the Government

Published on MoneySavings.ca | Personal Finance | May 2026 Imagine being able to put your savings into the same fund the federal government is betting $25 billion on. For the first time in Canadian history, that's exactly what Ottawa is offering you — a front-row seat (and a direct stake) in the country's biggest nation-building push in generations. Tragedy Strikes Minneapolis Catholic School: Three Dead, 20 Injured in Mass Shooting

A devastating act of violence unfolded Wednesday morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, leaving three people dead — including two children — and 20 others injured. The attack occurred during a school-wide Mass in the first week of the academic year, shattering what should have been a time of new beginnings.

Authorities say the perpetrator, a man in his early 20s dressed in black and armed with multiple firearms, opened fire from outside the church, shooting through windows into the congregation. Witnesses reported between 50 and 100 rounds fired before the gunman took his own life in the school’s parking lot.

Among the injured are at least 14 children, several of whom remain in critical condition. Law enforcement, including the FBI and ATF, responded swiftly, and officials have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey expressed deep sorrow, calling the attack an “unspeakable act of violence” against innocent children. The motive remains under investigation.

The tragedy marks the second mass shooting in Minneapolis within 48 hours, intensifying calls for action to address gun violence in the city.
