In a dramatic turn of events, President Donald Trump has signaled a potential shift in U.S. involvement in the Ukraine conflict, suggesting that American air support could be on the table—while firmly ruling out the deployment of ground troops.

This announcement came shortly after a high-stakes summit at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where Trump pledged security guarantees aimed at ending Russia’s full-scale invasion. The meeting was followed by Russia’s largest aerial assault in over a month, with 270 drones and 10 missiles targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, particularly in the central Poltava region.

Trump, speaking on Fox News, emphasized that while European allies may commit boots on the ground, the U.S. would likely contribute “by air.” He later described his approach to peace negotiations as driven more by instinct than formal process.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that air support remains “an option and a possibility,” though specifics remain unclear. Potential forms of aid could include missile defense systems or enforcing a no-fly zone.
