Markets Rebound as Hopes for Iran–U.S. Dialogue Ease Geopolitical Tensions

U.S. stock futures edged higher on Wednesday as signs of potential diplomatic movement in the Iran–U.S. standoff helped calm volatile markets. Futures tied to the S&P 500 rose about 0.3%, the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.5%, and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures added 0.2% after a turbulent prior session.  The shift in sentiment followed reports that Iran has quietly approached the United States to discuss terms for ending the escalating conflict , a development that helped cool fears of further disruption in global energy markets. United Front: European Leaders Join Zelensky for High-Stakes White House Talks with Trump

Ukraine is under increased pressure on the front-lines as Russia pushes to take more territory in advance of an anticipated peace deal.

In a rare show of transatlantic unity, top European leaders will accompany Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House on Monday for pivotal talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. The meeting comes just days after Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, which failed to produce a breakthrough on ending the war in Ukraine.

Confirmed attendees include French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

According to European officials, the agenda will focus on security guarantees, territorial disputes, and sustaining military and economic support for Ukraine. The coordinated presence of Europe’s political heavyweights is seen as an effort to prevent Zelensky from being pressured into accepting a peace deal that could involve ceding occupied territories to Russia.

The talks follow months of tense diplomacy, including a public clash between Trump and Zelensky in February that temporarily froze U.S. aid to Kyiv. With Russia intensifying its offensives and rejecting calls for a ceasefire, the stakes for Monday’s Oval Office meeting could not be higher.
