CRA Tax Adjustment Delays Now Stretch Up to 47 Weeks — Here's How to Avoid Getting Stuck

What's Actually Happening When you need to change something on a tax return you've already filed — say you forgot a slip, need to update a deduction, or want to claim a credit you missed — you submit what's called a T1 adjustment request. The CRA sorts these into two speeds: Routine requests (filed online through your CRA My Account or certified tax software) have a service standard of just 2 weeks . Alberta Narrows School Book Ban to Target Sexual Images, Not Written Descriptions

                                      Alberta bans sexual images in school library books under revised order.

The Alberta government has revised its controversial school library directive to ban only books containing visual depictions of sexual acts, while allowing written descriptions to remain on shelves.

Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides said the change was made to provide clarity after the original July order prompted Edmonton Public Schools to prepare a removal list of more than 200 titles — including classics like The Handmaid’s Tale and Brave New World — to comply with the rules. The move drew national criticism and accusations of censorship.

Under the updated ministerial order, “visual depiction” includes drawings, illustrations, photographs, digital images, or videos of sexual acts. Exceptions apply to materials with non-sexual anatomical images, such as medical texts, and to religious works.

The revised policy also removes age-based distinctions, meaning all grades are subject to the same standard. Schools now have until January 5, 2026, to comply, and must submit lists of removed materials to the province by the end of October.

Nicolaides emphasized that the government’s concern has always been with “extremely graphic and explicit visual depictions,” not literary works with sexual themes in text form.
