Cadaver Dogs to Join Renewed Search for Missing N.S. Siblings

Jack Sullivan, 4, and his sister Lilly Sullivan, 6, were reported missing on May 2, 2025.

RCMP in Nova Scotia will deploy cadaver dogs for the first time in the search for six-year-old Lilly Sullivan and her four-year-old brother Jack, missing since May 2 from their home in Lansdowne Station, Pictou County.

The specialized human remains detection teams will join upcoming search efforts in the dense, rural terrain surrounding the children’s home. Police have not disclosed when or where the dogs will be used, citing investigative and safety concerns.

Previous searches covered more than eight square kilometres and involved over 160 volunteers, service dogs, drones, and helicopters. Despite extensive efforts and hundreds of public tips, no trace of the siblings has been found.

RCMP stress there is no definitive evidence the children are deceased, but say the move aligns with the investigation’s progression. The case has drawn national attention, with family members urging continued urgency in the search.
