Israeli Envoy Vows Renewed Strikes on Hamas Leadership After Qatar Attack

 

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, is received by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Emir of Qatar, at Doha International Airport Tuesday.

Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, has declared that if Hamas leaders survived Tuesday’s airstrike in Doha, Qatar, “we’ll get them the next time”. The strike targeted the group’s political leadership in the Qatari capital, a move that has drawn sharp criticism and raised fears it could derail ongoing ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza conflict.

Hamas confirmed that five members were killed, including the son of senior leader and negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, but said its top leadership escaped unharmed. Qatar, which has been mediating talks between Israel and Hamas, condemned the attack as “state terrorism” and warned it threatened to collapse peace efforts.

The U.S. described the strike as a unilateral action that does not advance shared American and Israeli interests. President Donald Trump voiced dissatisfaction with “every aspect” of the operation, while regional leaders from the UAE, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia traveled to Doha in a show of solidarity with Qatar.

The incident comes amid intensified Israeli military operations in Gaza and beyond, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushes for an all-or-nothing deal requiring Hamas to release all hostages and surrender.
