Ontario Braces for Fierce Winds After Soaking Rains and Sudden Temperature Drop

Ontario is in for a turbulent weather shift as two storm systems sweep across the province, delivering heavy rain, powerful winds, and a sharp cooldown. Rainfall began early Thursday in southern Ontario, spreading eastward into the Ottawa Valley by evening, with totals of 10–20 mm expected in the south and up to 75 mm in parts of the north.

By Friday, a secondary low-pressure system will intensify conditions, bringing wind gusts of 50–80 km/h across southern Ontario and up to 90 km/h along the Georgian Bay shoreline. Special weather statements are in effect, urging residents to secure outdoor items and prepare for possible power outages.

The unsettled weather will usher in a noticeable temperature drop. Daytime highs in the Greater Toronto Area are forecast to settle in the mid-to-high teens over the weekend, a few degrees below seasonal norms, with crisp mornings hinting at autumn’s arrival.
