Ontario Auto Insurance Just Changed: What Every Driver Needs to Know Before July 1

If you drive in Ontario, this affects you — starting July 1, 2026 , the biggest shake-up to Ontario's auto insurance system in decades is here. Nine benefits that were automatically included in every policy for years are now optional extras you have to pay for separately — or go without. The Ford government is calling it consumer choice. Ottawa Designates India’s Bishnoi Gang as Terrorist Group

The Government of Canada has officially designated the Bishnoi Gang, an India-based criminal network, as a terrorist entity under the Criminal Code. Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree announced the move, citing the gang’s involvement in murder, shootings, arson, extortion, and intimidation that have created a climate of fear within diaspora communities.

The designation empowers Canadian authorities to freeze or seize the gang’s assets, including property, vehicles, and financial holdings. It also provides law enforcement with expanded tools to prosecute offences related to terrorism, such as financing, recruitment, and travel.

Led by Lawrence Bishnoi, who has been imprisoned in India since 2014, the gang has been linked to drug trafficking, extortion, and targeted killings. Despite Bishnoi’s incarceration, investigators allege he continues to direct operations from behind bars.

The listing follows mounting pressure from provincial leaders and opposition parties, who argued that the gang’s activities posed a direct threat to public safety in Canada. With this move, the Bishnoi Gang joins 88 other organizations currently listed as terrorist entities in Canada.
