A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot by police in Longueuil, Quebec, over the weekend, prompting an investigation by the province’s police watchdog, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI). On Tuesday, BEI director Brigitte Bishop confirmed that no firearm was recovered from the teenager or the scene—only the officer’s service weapon was seized.

Police had responded to a 911 call reporting a group of armed individuals in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Witnesses say officers shouted for the teens to stop before one officer fired two bullets, killing the boy within seconds.

Investigators recovered a baseball bat, ski masks, and a backpack, but no sharp-edged weapons. The BEI is analyzing seven videos and has interviewed around 15 witnesses, though not all present at the time have come forward.

The teen’s family described him as gentle and nonviolent, insisting he was only carrying schoolbooks. The investigation remains ongoing as calls for transparency and justice grow across the community.
