The Canada Strong Fund — Invest Like the Government

Published on MoneySavings.ca | Personal Finance | May 2026 Imagine being able to put your savings into the same fund the federal government is betting $25 billion on. For the first time in Canadian history, that's exactly what Ottawa is offering you — a front-row seat (and a direct stake) in the country's biggest nation-building push in generations. On April 28, 2026, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Canada's first national sovereign wealth fund — the Canada Strong Fund. Russian MiG-31 Jets Violate Estonian Airspace, Prompt NATO Response

                                            Russian Air Force Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-31.

In a dramatic escalation of tensions along NATO’s eastern flank, Estonia reported a serious breach of its airspace on Friday, September 19, when three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered without authorization. The aircraft penetrated approximately five nautical miles into Estonian territory near Vaindloo Island and remained for 12 minutes, flying without flight plans, transponders, or radio contact.

Italian F-35s stationed in Estonia under NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission were scrambled to intercept the intruders, supported by Finnish and Swedish aircraft. Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal called the incursion “totally unacceptable,” while Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna described it as “unprecedentedly brazen,” marking the fourth such violation by Russia this year.

Estonia has invoked NATO’s Article 4, which allows member states to request consultations when their territorial integrity or security is threatened. The North Atlantic Council is expected to convene early next week to address the incident.

This breach follows similar provocations in Poland and Romania, where Russian drones and jets have recently entered NATO airspace. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned, “Putin is testing the resolve of the West. We must not show weakness”.
