Negotiators from Russia and Ukraine convened in Geneva for a new round of U.S.-mediated peace talks, with territorial disputes emerging as the central point of contention. Trump Demands Probe Into ‘Triple Sabotage’ at United Nations

U.S. President Donald Trump attends the 80th United Nations General Assembly at U.N. headquarters in New York City, on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump has accused the United Nations of orchestrating what he called a “triple sabotage” during his recent address to the General Assembly. The incidents included a stalled escalator, a malfunctioning teleprompter, and audio issues that he claimed left parts of the audience unable to hear his speech.

Trump said the escalator carrying him and First Lady Melania Trump to the main speaking floor “came to a screeching halt,” nearly causing them to fall. He also complained that his teleprompter was “stone cold dark” for the first 15 minutes of his remarks, forcing him to rely on paper notes. Afterward, he claimed that the sound system in the auditorium was “completely off,” leaving world leaders dependent on interpreters’ earpieces.

Calling the events “three very sinister acts,” Trump demanded an immediate investigation and said the U.S. Secret Service was involved. He also urged the preservation of security footage, particularly around the escalator’s emergency stop mechanism.

The United Nations, however, offered different explanations. Officials said the escalator stopped because a videographer in Trump’s own delegation accidentally triggered a safety mechanism, while the teleprompter was operated by Trump’s team rather than UN staff. As for the audio, the UN has not confirmed any deliberate disruption.

Despite the disputes, Trump insisted the mishaps were intentional, declaring, “This wasn’t a coincidence; this was triple sabotage at the UN.”
