U.S. Officials Say Iran’s New Supreme Leader Gravely Wounded Amid Escalating Conflict

Protesters hold posters of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son, Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, during a protest marking al-Quds Day (Jerusalem Day), after Friday prayers at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei , was seriously wounded and likely disfigured during the opening phase of U.S. and Israeli military strikes. Speaking at a Pentagon briefing, Hegseth described Iran’s leadership as “desperate and hiding,” asserting that Khamenei has gone underground following injuries sustained in the attacks.  Reports from multiple outlets indicate that Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the conflict began, fueling speculation about the severity of his condition. Some accounts suggest he may have suffered catastrophic injuries, including the loss of a limb and a possible coma, after an airstrike that also killed members of his family.  U.S....

Trump Escalates Media Feud, Targets Late-Night Critics After Kimmel Suspension

Demonstrators picket outside of the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Calif., on Thursday after U.S. television network ABC announced it is taking Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air indefinitely. Disney is the corporate owner of ABC.

U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his attacks on late-night television hosts following ABC’s indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! over remarks about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Speaking at a press conference in London, Trump dismissed concerns over free speech, claiming Kimmel was sidelined for “bad ratings” and a “lack of talent” rather than political pressure. However, the move came just hours after Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr — a Trump appointee — urged ABC affiliates to drop the show and hinted at possible fines or license revocations for noncompliance.

Trump celebrated the decision on social media and urged NBC to take similar action against other outspoken hosts, including Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. Critics, including free-speech advocates and prominent Democrats, have condemned the suspension as part of a broader campaign to silence dissenting voices in the media.

The controversy has sparked protests outside Disney’s headquarters, calls for boycotts of its streaming services, and a looming congressional investigation into potential government interference in broadcast decisions.
