Trump’s Second UK State Visit Unfolds with Unprecedented Pageantry and Political Stakes

US President Donald Trump has begun his historic second state visit to the United Kingdom, greeted with the largest military ceremonial welcome for a state visit in living memory. King Charles III and Queen Camilla hosted the president and First Lady Melania Trump at Windsor Castle, where the day’s events included a carriage procession, a Red Arrows flypast, and an inspection of the Guard of Honour.

Trump, the first elected politician to be invited for two UK state visits, expressed his affection for Britain, noting his Scottish heritage. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is using the visit to bolster the “special relationship,” secure billions in US investment, and push forward trade talks.

The trip comes amid tight security, protests in London, and lingering questions over both leaders’ past associations with Jeffrey Epstein. While the royal spectacle aims to charm the president, the political agenda will dominate when Trump and Starmer meet at Chequers to discuss trade, Ukraine, and the Middle East.
