A powerful blizzard has left close to 1,000 climbers, trekkers, and tourists stranded on the Tibetan side of Mount Everest, according to Chinese state media. The storm, which began late Friday and continued through Saturday, dumped heavy snow across the eastern slope of the mountain, blocking access roads and cutting off high-altitude camps above 4,900 meters.

Rescue operations are underway, with hundreds of local villagers and emergency teams deployed to clear snow and reopen routes.
