Drone Sighting Causes Brief Delays at Oslo Airport

Air traffic at Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport was briefly disrupted early Monday after a pilot reported spotting multiple drones near the runway. According to Norwegian police, the sighting occurred shortly after midnight when a Norwegian Air pilot observed what appeared to be three to five drones during approach.

As a precaution, several incoming flights were temporarily delayed, with some aircraft circling in holding patterns until the situation was clarified. No flights were diverted, and departures continued as scheduled. By around 1:30 a.m., operations had returned to normal, though authorities emphasized that the drone presence remains unverified.

The incident comes amid a series of similar disruptions across European airports in recent weeks, including in Copenhagen and Munich, raising concerns about aviation safety and the potential misuse of drones near critical infrastructure. Norwegian police have launched an investigation into the Oslo sighting.
