Israel Confirms Hamas Returned Wrong Body Amid Hostage Repatriation

Israel’s military announced that one of the bodies recently handed over by Hamas is not that of a hostage, deepening tensions surrounding the fragile ceasefire agreement.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), forensic examinations revealed that of the four bodies transferred late Tuesday, three were identified as hostages — Uriel Baruch, Tamir Nimrodi, and Eitan Levi — but the fourth did not match any of the known captives.

The discovery has raised new concerns about Hamas’ compliance with the terms of the ceasefire deal, which requires the group to return the remains of all 28 deceased hostages. Israeli officials have demanded that Hamas make “all necessary efforts” to locate and return the correct bodies.

The incident comes as humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza face renewed restrictions, with Israel warning that further violations of the agreement could jeopardize both the truce and the flow of essential supplies.

This latest development underscores the fragility of ongoing negotiations and the immense strain on families still awaiting the return of their loved ones.
