Here are the five stories shaping your money today — from tomorrow's pivotal Bank of Canada decision to a looming trade deadline that could affect every Canadian business. 1. 🏦 Bank of Canada Decides Tomorrow — Hold Expected, But It's Not Simple All eyes are on Ottawa as the Bank of Canada announces its overnight rate decision on Wednesday, June 10 at 9:45 a.m. ET. The benchmark rate currently sits at 2.25%, and a hold is the widely expected outcome. But experts say it's the most uncertain call in months. USS Gerald R. Ford Heads to South America as U.S. Expands Military Footprint

The USS Gerald Ford, which was commissioned in 2017, is the United States' newest aircraft carrier and the world's largest, with more than 5,000 sailors aboard.

The United States has announced a major escalation of its military presence in South America with the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier. The move, ordered by President Donald Trump’s administration, marks one of Washington’s most assertive shows of force in the region in decades.

The Gerald R. Ford, commissioned in 2017, carries more than 5,000 sailors and up to 90 aircraft. It will join an already formidable U.S. presence in the Caribbean, which includes eight warships, a nuclear submarine, and F-35 fighter jets.

Pentagon officials say the buildup is aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks and bolstering security across the Western Hemisphere. In recent weeks, U.S. forces have conducted multiple airstrikes against boats allegedly linked to criminal organizations, drawing both regional concern and questions about the legality of such operations.

The deployment comes amid heightened tensions with Venezuela, whose government Washington accuses of harboring traffickers and undermining democratic institutions. Analysts warn that the arrival of the Gerald R. Ford could further inflame regional unease, while U.S. officials insist the mission is focused on safeguarding stability and protecting American interests.
