Liberal Ranks Grow as Michael Ma Joins Carney’s Team

Markham-Unionville MP Michael Ma crossed the floor to join the Liberals on Thursday. In a dramatic political shift on Parliament Hill, Michael Ma, the Member of Parliament for Markham–Unionville, announced on December 11, 2025, that he is leaving the Conservative caucus to sit with the Liberals . His decision follows weeks of consultation with constituents and family, and comes on the heels of Nova Scotia MP Chris d’Entremont’s defection last month. Ma explained that his move was motivated by a desire for “unity and decisive action for Canada’s future.” He praised Prime Minister Mark Carney’s leadership, describing it as a steady and practical approach to tackling pressing issues such as affordability, economic growth, community safety, and opportunities for young families. Cloudflare Restores Services After Global Internet Disruption

The latest outage prevented thousands of users from accessing popular platforms

A major outage at internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare disrupted access to thousands of websites and platforms worldwide on Tuesday morning, leaving users unable to connect to services such as X (formerly Twitter), ChatGPT, Canva, Grindr, and Spotify. The company, which manages roughly 20% of global web traffic, reported that the issue began around 6:40 a.m. ET due to an internal service degradation.

Cloudflare quickly identified the problem and deployed a fix, though some customers continued to experience intermittent issues as systems recovered. The outage triggered widespread 500 errors, failures in the Cloudflare Dashboard and API, and forced the company to temporarily disable certain services in the United Kingdom while remediation was underway.

The disruption highlighted the critical role Cloudflare plays in keeping the internet stable. Its network helps websites load faster and remain online by defending against traffic surges and cyberattacks. With shares dropping about 5% in premarket trading, the incident also underscored the financial impact of outages on infrastructure providers.

This event follows a similar disruption last month when Amazon Web Services (AWS) went down, affecting platforms like Snapchat and Reddit. The back-to-back outages raise concerns about the fragility of global internet infrastructure, where a single provider’s downtime can ripple across millions of users worldwide.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Cloudflare confirmed that services were gradually returning to normal, though users may still encounter occasional errors while the fix is fully implemented. The company continues to monitor its systems to ensure stability and prevent further disruptions.

In summary: The Cloudflare outage is easing, but the incident serves as a reminder of how dependent the digital world has become on a handful of infrastructure providers.
